Day 1

Overnight flight to Rome.

Day 2

Arrive in Rome. On arrival your will be met by your representative and transferred to your hotel. The ‘Eternal City’ and the capital of Italy, Rome’s history spans more than two and a half thousand years since its legendary founding in 753 BC. In ancient times, it was the capital city of the Roman Kingdom, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire, and is regarded as one of the birthplaces of Western civilization.

Enjoy some free time to explore the city and see its historic sights.

Day 3

Today discover Ancient Rome with a half day guided tour of the city’s ancient sites including the Colosseum, the Arch of Constantine and the Roman Forum.

The Colosseum is considered one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and engineering. It is the largest amphitheatre in the world. It was home to some of the most infamous gladiatorial contests and public spectacles. Just outside of the Colosseum, you can find the Roman Forum; the teeming heart of ancient Rome, it has been called the most celebrated meeting place in the world and in all history.

Later in the afternoon participate in a workshop cooking lesson“Making pizza”.

Day 4

Explore the Vatican City, including a guided tour of Sistine Chapel. There will be an opportunity to meet a Swiss Guard and learn what it’s like to guard the Pope. The Vatican museums are composed of several sections. Gregorian Etruscan, Pinacoteca, Missionary-Ethnological, Raphael Stanze and the Sistine Chapel. Works of art from every conceivable Renaissance artist adorn the rooms and corridors and there is far too much to appreciate in one visit. The ceiling of the Sistine chapel was created by Michelangelo and features 9 scenes from the book of Genesis. You can visit St Peter’s Square and Basilica, with an opportunity to climb the Dome (Cupola di San Pietro) or visit the Papal Tombs.

Day 5

Today you will travel to Sorrento via Mt Vesuvius and visit Pompeii. Probably the most famous archaeological site in Italy and is located just 25km away from Naples. The excavations are visited by millions of visitors every year and offer one of the world’s most important examples of the past. Life in this rich and prosperous city was dramatically and brusquely interrupted in 79 A.D. when Vesuvius erupted and totally buried it. The city and its inhabitants were wiped out in moments. A visit to the excavations gives you a pretty good idea of what life must have been like here two thousand years ago

Continue your journey along the Amalfi Coast to the city of Sorrento. Overlooking the Bay of Naples, Sorrento’s sea cliffs and luxury hotels have made it a well-known spot for the rich and famous.

Day 6

This morning travel by water transport to Capri for a Sightseeing day tour.  Admire the stunning views of the Gulf as you visit Capri’s main landmarks, including the Blue Grotto, a dark cavern where the sea glows electric blue, the result of sunlight passing through an underwater cave.

Day 7

Today continue your trip to Florence. On arrival you will have some free time to explore the city and find out why it’s known as the Cradle of Civilisation and explore some of its most beautiful and iconic architecture. Must see places are: Florence Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral, The Bell Tower and the Baptistery. You can end your walking tour by visiting the Ponte Vecchio.

Day 8

In the morning you will visit the Galleria dell’Accademia. The Galleria dell’Accademia belongs to the most famous galleries in Florence. The exhibition contains numerous famous paintings and sculptures. The latter in particular, as the statue of David by Michelangelo is part of the collection.

Later in the afternoon visit Uffizi Gallery, one of the oldest and most famous art museums of Europe. It is home to works by Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, amongst others.

Day 9 – 11

Today travel to Prato for your choice of lessons in Music, Fine Arts, History or Italian Language lesson.

We can provide tailor-made programs to suit each group’s specific learning needs based on their language level and knowledge. All programs are taught by experienced local teachers and are designed to maximise the opportunities to put classroom learning into practice, including activities such as visits to local schools, markets, treasure hunts in the historic centre of Prato, and day trips to nearby towns.

In Prato, students and teachers will be exposed to an Italy little affected by the great influx of tourism, an experience which will enrich and deepen their understanding of cultural diversity.

Day 12

Today say goodbye to Prato and travel to Venice, a city in the north east of Italy situated on a group of 118 small islands separated by canals and linked by bridges. Venice is renowned for its beauty, its architecture and its artworks.

Later in the afternoon the students will participate in a Venetian Mask Making workshop. Visit a traditional artisan work place where students will learn all about the ancient techniques used to make a Venetian papier-mâché mask. The aim of the mini course is to explain the use of the mask in Venice during past centuries and for students to take part in the decoration of their own choice of papier-mâché mask.

Day 13

Today you are free to roam the city to take in the sights; including the Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs, glassblowing on the islands of Murano and Burano.

In the afternoon you will take a Language Lesson Walking Tour of Venice. See the main sights of Venice whilst enjoying an interactive language based walking tour where students will be challenged to use their language on the go.

Day 14

It is time to say arrivederci to Italy as you board your flight back home.
