Day 1 – Arrive in Canberra

Visit Geoscience Australia Education Centre – Students can learn about all things geoscience in line with their year’s national curriculum. With students able to make their mark to the centre by adding a layer to the ‘visitor book’ sediment columns and recording an earthquake using the in-house seismograph.

Day 2

Australian Institute of Sports (AIS) –Embark on a guided 90-minutes AIS tour.

In the afternoon visit CSIRO Discovery Centre – Offering an interactive journey through CSIRO and Australian science history, with ability to tailor the 90-minute program to the particular age bracket of the group.

Overnight in Canberra

Day 3

In the morning visit the Australian War Memorial.  Participate in one of the facilitated programs, with options to focus on: ANZAC legacy, Australians and the World Wars and more.

In the afternoon visit The Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House – a living museum of social and political history. With programs available focusing on various components of the development and practice of democracy and more

Later in the afternoon visit the National Electoral Education Centre – Using experiential learning to engage and inform upon the processes of democracy. With hands on activities including participating in a simulated election to see the direct results an election.

Overnight in Canberra

Day 4

This morning you will participate in the Parliament House Program. The role-play, providing students a hands-on experience of how our Parliament works. Exploring the functions, purpose, processes and value of Australia’s democratic system.

In the afternoon visit the Royal Australian Mint– With a guided tour of the mint students are able to discover various interesting facts about the history of coins in Australia, along with how they are designed and the factory process.

Day 5

Today you will visit Questacon. With over 200 hands-on exhibits in interactive galleries. With all exhibits promoting science and technology concepts. There is also live Spectacular Science Show, this self-guided experience encourages students to discover the smarter way to have fun!
